Stanislav Grof

1931 -

Terapeut och medvetandeforskare. Känd för sin forskning om transpersonell psykologi och psykedelisk terapi.

1954 deltog Grof i en övervakad studie om LSD och dess effekt på kroppen. Uppkopplad med kablar till medicinska instrument och stirrande in i ett stroboskop fick Grof ett genombrott med en förändrad världsbild som följd, där han insåg möjligheterna att använda drogen som terapiverktyg.

In the middle of my first LSD experiment, when I watched the flashing stroboscopic light, the nature of it all changed basically what happened was that I was catapulted out of my body. I first lost the laboratory, then I lost the clinic, then Prague, and then the planet. I had the sense that I was a disembodied consciousness of cosmic universal dimensions. I witnessed things that I would describe today as pulsars, quasars, the Big Bang, and expanding galaxies.

Under sin aktiva forskningsperiod från 60-talet och framåt fick 5000 patienter LSD vid totalt 25.000 tillfällen.
