"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others."

"Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing."

"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."

"...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."

"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."

"Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death."

"You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother."

You know, it's a funny thing, every one of the bastards that are out for legalizing marijuana is Jewish. What the Christ is the matter with the Jews, Bob?" he said to top aide H.R. Haldeman. "What is the matter with them? I suppose it's because most of them are psychiatrists.
— USA:s f.d president Richard Nixon[2]
Dope? Do you think the Russians allow dope? Hell no. Not if they can catch it. They send them up," Nixon said. "You see, homosexuality, dope, uh, immorality in general: These are the enemies of strong societies. That's why the communists and the left-wingers are pushing it. They're trying to destroy us.
— USA:s f.d president Richard Nixon[2]

— Pelle Olsson[6]

Sunda åsikter om droger

Rational people change their minds when confronted with new evidence. Back then, I was not aware of the seriousness of the issue.
To think of it as society's war is a little bit misleading, as if there were a military solution. And you know I have experience with this; including personal experience. I had a brother who was addicted to cocaine, so I know a lot about this.
There is a clear proof in our country of a racial discrimination in laws that apply to criminalizing the use of narcotics.
— Jimmy Carter, f.d President, USA (1977 - 1980)
Who are the addicts? Our children, I mean people we love, people we would like really to bring back into normal life.
— Ruth Dreifuss, f.d President, Schweiz (1999)
Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against possession of marihuana in private for personal use... Therefore, I support legislation amending Federal law to eliminate all Federal criminal penalties for the possession of up to one ounce of marihuana.
— Jimmy Carter, f.d President, USA (1977 - 1980)
The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this.
— Albert Einstein[7]
The drug war has arguably been the single most devastating, dysfunctional social policy since slavery.
— Norm Stamper, Chief of Police, Seattle P.D. (Ret.)[8]
Legalization won’t be an immediate cure-all for drug abuse. What legalization can do, though, is take a $500 billion a year industry away from the control of gangs and cartels.
— Terry Nelson, U.S. Border Patrol, Customs, Dept. of Homeland Security (Ret.)[8]
Education has drastically reduced tobacco consumption, and we didn’t have to arrest our way to that reduction. But we’ve arrested our way into being the most incarcerated population on the planet, and it hasn’t stemmed the flow of drugs or our appetite for them.
— Russ Jones, U.S. Gov’t Intelligence; San Jose Narc & Rehab Trainer (Ret.)[9]
When our government’s policies have brought us to the point that we imprison black males at a rate six times greater than South Africa’s heinous apartheid, it is time for all of us to acknowledge its racist roots.
— Matthew Fogg, U.S. Marshal (Ret.)[8]
